Online Course Trend #1: Unleash The Power Of Personality
Ever felt like you're just another face in the online business crowd? Well, it's time to ditch that 'expert persona' and let your true self shine. We're living in the era of P2P (Person to Person) marketing, where your personality isn't just a bonus, it's a necessity.
If you tried to grow a service business online in the last few years, there’s a good chance you heard advice along these lines: pick your niche, stick to it, and pump out an ungodly amount of valuable educational content to attract your ideal clients.
And while at its core this strategy has a solid foundation, it’s missing one BIG nuance - your personality.
Cause here’s the thing: In an age where AI can churn out expert-sounding content faster than you can say 'online course', and competition in any niche is getting more crowded by the day. Your services or area of expertise alone simply aren't enough to make you stand out.
This might sound bleak at first, but when you think about it…
That’s actually GREAT news!
Because there's one thing that's utterly, irreplaceably unique to you:
It’s your personality. Your story.
Someone can have the exact same skill set as you, the exact same certification and even the exact same clients….
But no one, not a million years can copy your personality, and your story.
Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not suggesting you turn your business into a reality show or start oversharing every intimate detail of your personal life.
But you need to infuse your authentic self into your marketing and messaging. How you show up online, the nature of your services, your course delivery - all these can be a reflection of who you are.
Remember, the online course space does not need another basic blending in professional, repeating the same information that we can read from any other book out there on the internet.
Online Course Trend #2: Focus on retaining your students
If you want long-term success in the online course world, don’t focus on simply SELLING your course. Focus on getting them the results.
If you are not able to deliver that transformation to your students, you won't have success with signing up more students later down the line.
You need to know that your system doesn't only work in theory, but that people can actually implement it, and you are the right person to guide them through the process that you're teaching them.
Online Course Trend #3: Live launches will overtake Evergreen launches
Which way of launching is better: Cohort live launching or evergreen launching?
This is a discussion as old as time. However, more course creators are currently switching to the live cohort launching style.
And there are a few reasons for that. One of the most important ones is that live launches allow a more seamless and intuitive building of a community.
It allows for way more students to actually follow through the program and actually complete it in time.
If all of your students start at the same time, you can monitor their progress. You can see who's lagging behind. You can see who maybe needs a little bit of extra help, and that just allows for that completion rate boost up that you really, really need.
Online Course Trend #4: Focus on community building
Community building is not optional anymore. Jeff Walker, the bestselling author of Launch and a pioneer of online marketing launches even goes so far as to say that community are what allowed his business to grow with quantum leaps instead of incrementally.
In one of his latest newsletters, he writes, "suddenly I went from making slow and steady progress to experiencing quantum leaps forward from knowing 10% more than anyone about launches to knowing 10 times more."
So if a pioneer of online marketing launch says you should focus on a community, then trust me, you should focus on the community.
And I don't mean a half-hearted Facebook group where you post every once in a blue moon and ask a lame question that no one really answers. I mean actually investing time and effort in making your community as valuable as possible to your students.
Think of your community as a cherry on top of your online course programs. This is what will get people hooked on your products and get them engaged and activated.
Online Course Trend #5: Course extras are not an option anymore
A simple video recording with no additional information will have a hard time attracting students.
There's so much competition in this space, so you need to make the learning process as easy and intuitive as possible for your students. That means including cheat sheets, documents list, step-by-step processes or whatever will help your students better remember the information that you're teaching in a course.
How can you make information from your course as easily applicable as possible?
What are you students constantly asking you for?
What is the step of the way where they stumble and they don't know how to proceed?
Can you create an instruction for that, a cheat sheet, a clear step by step instruction? If you can, do that by all means.
Online Course Trend #6: Product suite
Creating a product suite is not only a great way to boost your revenue, but also a means to grow together with your audience.
As a business owner, you can always expand and grow and talk about new, exciting. things instead of being stuck in one little topic area, feeling like a broken tune.
This means that you can grow together with your audience and that as their needs expand, you offer them new products, making them brand evangelists for you.
