How do I know these strategies work?

Because I CONSTANTLY receive emails, DMs on Instagram, LinkedIn that go along the lines of, "I just found your content, binged it, and want to work with you.”

And it's not unusual for me to receive a flood of DMs after only hinting at a new project, immediately asking how people can buy it or when it's launching.

Sometimes, people are literally ASKING me to buy something... even when I'm not selling! For example, a follower wanted to buy a podcast I was launching cause they though it was a new offer…

The crazy part is, I don't even have a big audience. I don't even have a medium-sized audience, for that matter.

I have just a little bit over 500 people on Instagram, 1.5k on LinkedIn, and 200 people on my email list. Yet, I get messages like these DAILY. Every time I put out a freebie, service, or new product, people JUMP on it like there's no tomorrow.

And the funny thing is, it doesn't stop there. People also jump on the tools I recommend, ask for my travel advice, my outfits, and even try the same meditations I do. Basically, ANYTHING I show on my socials gets a comment or a question.

The point is, I KNOW how to become the kind of person people want to buy EVERYTHING from.

Want to learn the strategies that will help you do the same? Let’s dive right in…

The biggest myth about online sales that is keeping you stuck

There’s a HUGE misconception floating online — that most online business owners buy into, that YOU probably also bought into — that is hurting your sales mojo, and your ability to be the kind of person people buy EVERYTHING from!

And it’s the belief that the most important component of high sales is the size of your audience.

It’s almost like a knee-jerk reaction because it’s so EASY to blame your audience for lack of sales.

But as you have just seen in my example, having a tine audience and still selling like crazy — this is BS.

And I can tell you I’m not the only example, by far! I’ve had clients with literally hundreds of thousands or even millions in their audience who BARELY sold their online courses and couldn’t even cross the 6-figure mark…

And I’ve had clients who were reaching just a few thousand people yet generated 6 figures with their launch easily.

What’s the secret?

The REAL key to selling lout your offers is your audience’s TRUST and LOYALTY, coupled with your ESTABLISHED AUTHORITY… not the sheer audience size.

Audience growth is important, don’t get me wrong — but it always and ever comes after these two.

It’s EASY to grow your audience to hundreds of thousands nowadays - we’ve seen people grow like crazy on TikTok, but establishing real trust and loyalty?

Now this is where the real gold lies.

So here are the ULTIMATE principles that will help you do that — and sell out ANYTHING you want.

1. Online Sales Tip #1: Evoke Emotion

I don’t see ANYONE in the online course space talk about this, yet this is KEY to selling out any offer.

If you want your people to buy your offers, your sales pitches first have to REGISTER with them.

As in, they not only need to SEE it, they need to UNDERSTAND what it is, and how it can help them.

Basically, they need to pay attention to your fricking content. And I mean really pay attention, not just mindlessly scroll through your content without absorbing any of it.

How do you get people to pay attention to your pitches, you might ask?

⚡️ By teaching them that your content is WORTH watching, and turning it into something they look forward to rather than hastily swipe away from.

And this 👆 happens when your content evokes EMOTIONS.

Let me be crystal clear — people will NOT watch your content if it doesn’t evoke some sort of emotion in them.

Be it curiosity, amusement, surprise, sadness, hopefulness, inspiration, anger… whichever one!

If the way you’re presenting yourself online is overly polished and curated or simply bland and yawn inducing, guess what’s going to happen?

Your audience just won’t pay that much attention to you!

They’ll scroll by in a SECONDS time, storm through your stories without truly absorbing or contemplating ANYTHING you’ve shared.

NOT what we want.

But can you blame them?

Would YOU sit through an excruciatingly boring lecture-like content that you feel indifferent about and couldn’t care less about?

Because I know I wouldn’t.

There are people in my feed whose content I’m always eager to watch. And then there are others who I love dearly as humans but whose content is just so excruuuuciatingly boring I always skip it.

How do you make emotion evoking content?

Here’s a quick tip — go thorough content that made you feel something, and dissect it like a scientist.

What was the emotion? What exactly triggered it? Which key phrases or visuals made you stop and pay attention?

And most importantly, how can you extrapolate that for yourself and adapt it to your content?

Plus, the next strategy will also help you make you better content that keeps our audience hooked…

2. Online Sales Tip #2: Show Your Personality

The days of rigid robotic-like expert accounts are over.

(Honestly, what a relief!)

If you want to get sales every single day, I DON’T want you to be professional online.

I do NOT want you presenting this perfect expert persona to the world: a polished, curated human version of Wikipedia that spews out facts and best practices and is completely devoid of any human touch, alright?

This… is exactly the vibe we are NOT going for. Curated, corporate and with no personality.

If you watch any of my content, you will see that I make an effort to connect with my audience on a personal level.

I let them in my thoughts and feelings.

We have insider jokes.

They know my weird quirks like getting car sick super easily, loving cats, and eating a bajillion of olives when I get my hands on them.

And it’s not because I have an aspiration to be a lifestyle blogger.

Actually, I really don’t want to be one.

It’s because of the one simple marketing and sales truth coined by Zig Ziglar 👇

“People buy from people they trust “

I see this time and time again with my clients: the ones who have a personal connection and TRUST in their audience are able to convert their audience way easier and are earning more money with less audience.

The deeper the trust — the higher the sales.

And you know who people trust? They trust people they KNOW.

While it’s true that we can build some level of trust based solely on our professional skills, the deepest form of trust comes from the feeling that we really know and understand the person in front of us.

Aka the more people feel like they know you the person vs. just you the expert – the deeper their trust towards you will be.

And that is why you HAVE TO let your real colors shine through and let your personality SHINE.

Because how can a person who has just found you online develop any sort of trust towards you when you’re not putting out any possibility for them to connect with you and get to know you better?

Plus let’s be real…

It’s just plain BORING to follow someone who’s just about work.

We humans are nosey beings, we want a peek behind the scenes.

Before you protest that you’re a private person, and you don’t want to air out your dirty laundry, become a lifestyle blogger, or let people in on every single detail of your life – you don’t have to!

I’m a private person myself too, but this does NOT stop me from connecting to my audience on a deeper level — which is exactly why I can sell anything so easily!

Showing your personality and connecting to people on a deeper level can be as easy as…

  • Speaking in your OWN tone of voice and with YOUR mannerisms instead of trying to mimic the trendy online language or slang speak.

  • Sharing a hobby you have.

  • Showing your attitude towards work or life: are you a hyper-high energy type of person like Gary Vee or Tony Robbins or are you the flowy vibey yoga type of expert who’s all about slowing down and tuning into your feelings?

  • Showing glimpses of your day that are not connected to your work — like the book you’re reading now + your thoughts on it; or the show you’re watching.

Remember — you are always in full control of how little or how much you show online. You don’t have to let people in on every dirty secret in your life, but give them something to relate to.

3. Online Sales Tip #3: Share Your Expert Opinion, Not Just Educational Content

Here’s the deal: your ideal client has probably already tried to solve the problem that you’re helping them with. And they very likely have already Googled around, read all the blogs, and Wikipedia, watched all the TikToks they could stomach.

They don’t want to see another bland regurgitation of the same ol’ thing.

They might watch it.

They might think “yeah, I guess it’s true and helpful” .

But this will hardly convert them into a paying customer because guess what…

When you’re just another expert echoing what they’ve already heard, and there’s no aha-moment that you were able to create for them- you don’t come off as an authority and there’s really not much reason for them to buy from you.

Instead of standing out and being the main character who they want to follow…

Yes, that Queen B main character energy 💅

You’re more like those sidekicks who may look different on the surface, but completely blend in…

What were their names again?…

So how can you stand out? By scratching the regurgitation of “educational content”, “best practices” and simple facts and instead, sharing your unique take on them.

Side note: this is not the same as sharing your “controversial opinion” – and advice you surely heard already….

And that does more harm than good.

Huh? Isn’t that the same thing?!

Na uh uh! 🙅🏻‍♀️ And the difference is crucial.

When you simply share a ‘controversial’ opinion, whatever it is that you’re saying is till very much influenced by the ‘mainstream’.

Because you’re just taking what’s universally accepted and take an opposing stance.

But since everybody and their brother have heard the “be controversial” advice – they’re also doing the exact same thing! So can you guess what happens?

It’s back to square one with everyone sounding the same.

And what’s worse, you’re still not sharing your unique expertise and not positioning yourself as a thought leader.

Plus, being ‘controversial’ just for the sake of ‘standing out’ can get gimmicky real fast.

Sharing your opinion is different because you might agree or you might disagree with the “mainstream”, or you might be somewhere in between.

But you’re putting YOUR unique spin on it, you’re adding YOUR outlook to the conversation.

You’re creating aha-moment for your audience by showing your thought process, your reasoning, and rationale. SO much better than simply disagreeing with everything for the sake of it.

P.S. Did you notice how THAT was my unique outlook on a widely spread advice? 😉

4. Online Sales Tip #4: Use Sales Psychology

Frankly, this game-changing strategy feels almost illegal to know. THAT’S how powerful it is.

Here’s the thing: lots of times people don’t buy your course because…well, your sales SUCK. Sorry, but a lil# bit of tough love was needed here.

I see course creators bombard their audiences with tele-shopping style promotions that are yawn-inducing at best and repulsive at worst and then wonder why no one is buying.

Integrating sales psychology into your content is the fastest way to change that.

And just to be clear — I do NOT mean manipulation or shady tactics that make you feel sleazy. We’re not about that over here, OK?

Sales psychology means simply understanding what makes us humans tick, what helps us make buying decisions — and then integrating these elements into your sales process.

For all my course creators who feel yucky about selling their courses or promoting their offers — THIS is your golden ticket to start selling with JOY.

Sales psychology is that secret key that allows you to sell… without really selling.

It’s THE secret ingredient that helps you seamlessly pitch your course in a way that gets your audience paying attention instead of scrolling away and WANTING to buy your offer instead of yawning as you speak.

Some of the principles I’ve described in this article are part of sales psychology, but if you want to master seamless selling – I have an entire resource dedicated to helping you sell out your course WITHOUT the sleaze.

This resource is called Storyselling Prompts. It’s a collection of 101 (I know…) prompts which are deeply rooted in buyer psychology that you can plug directly into your content and watch your sales go 📈🚀☄️

5. Online Sales Tip #5: Position Yourself as THE Authority In Your Niche

Authority is that secret sauce that makes people instantly trust you, and that makes them go “Woah! I wanna buy from this person!” minutes after landing on your profile so you get DMs like this …

Our brains are wired in a funny way — we rely on authority figures to make a big chunk of our decisions.

Our brains are lazy like that, they want an expert to tell them what they should do… because following an expert saves time and energy.

So if YOU can be seen as the expert in your niche and if you emanate authority, it’s going to make selling feel playfully easy.

To clarify, being an expert or being seen as an authority is NOT just about…

  • Your degree (unless you’re in a niche that requires it by law)

  • The sheer years of experience you have

  • The title on your CV

  • It’s not even about whether you think you’re an expert or not (hello imposter syndrome)

While all these things sure surely help, at its core, authority is an INNER game, always.

Think about it…

Have you ever been part of a team where the official manager didn’t hold a lot of weight; yet there was probably another teammate who was seen by the entire team as the authority?

Just to be clear — being an authority does NOT mean being the loudest person in the room. You don’t have to be the loud, fast-paced, abrasive Gary Vee type

It’s a lot more about how YOU view yourself and what do YOU think you bring to the table; and how confidently you carry yourself.

6. Online Sales Tip #6: Showcase Testimonials

If you only implement ONE tip from this article, let it be this – nothing will sell your courses quite like showing your testimonials.

You can harp on and on about how great your course is, but unless people can see that you have helped others, they will still be apprehensive.

Testimonials alone — presented righthave the potential to take your sales through the roof.

And you’re probably rolling your eyes at me thinking “Ana, tell me something I don’t know…”

But here’s the thing : the VAST MAJORITY of course creators I see online are not utilizing their testimonials right.

Most of the time, they simply slap a boring, longgg ass testimonial quote in their content and call it a day…

Or they mention a testimonial once and NEVER speak of it again…

…and then wonder why it doesn’t work for them. 😅

In order for your testimonials to bring in the sales, you have to make them engaging.

Dig in and highlight what made this result special.

Instead of just stating the simple fact of the end result, GIVE US THE JUICE; give us the backstory, the details that are going to make us relate and empathize with your clients.

The details that will make your audience think “Wow, if they could do it with that starting point… I can too!”

7. Online Sales Tip #7: Sell CONSTANTLY

As a rule of thumb, the more you sell your offers – the more people will buy.

I’m willing to bet you’ve already heard the variation of this advice online.

And chances are, you tried it and saw your reach plummet, your audience disengage, and your pitches met with deafening silence.

That’s because there’s one caveat to this rule:

Selling constantly ≠ Repeating “buy my course” like a broken tune.

In fact, it's a surefire way to make your audience tune out.

The truth of the matter is: people come to social media to relax, mindlessly scroll, and get entertained, NOT to get bombarded with teleshopping-style promotions.

While a hard sell definitely has a time and a place, let's be real - if you do that every day, people will develop banner blindness to your offer and stop listening (aka the exact opposite of what we want!)

The good news?

There are techniques you can use–right now– to go from crickets to selling out. 👉 You simply need to learn to weave your offer seamlessly into engaging content that resonates.

(P.S. That's exactly what my resource Storyselling Prompts will help you do.)
